Reading Goal

Students will improve reading comprehension skills across the curriculum by 3% on the MEAP Reading Test.

Desired learning results:

• Students will demonstrate their comprehension of the text by being able to give a detailed retell in the DRA 2.
• Students will demonstrate their comprehension skills through entries in their Reading Response Logs (grades 2-5).

Writing Goal

Students will improve their writing skills across the curriculum by 3% on the MEAP writing test.

• Students will demonstrate clear and focused writing on a given topic.
• Students will learn to utilize the writing process in assessment writing
• a)  Paired reading / writing    b)  Writing to a prompt

Tranference Goal (Math)

Students will improve their graphing skills across the curriculum by 3% on the MEAP Math Test.

Desired learning results:

• Students will demonstrate their ability to create and present data using graphs
• Students will demonstrate their ability to interpret data using graphs.

Steps to reaching the Reading Goal

1) Students will learn how to read graphs.

2) Students will collect data and create graphs.

3) Students will use technology to develop and present graphs.

4) Students will develop a portfolio.

5) Students will use a rubric to score own graphs.
