Blessings In A Backpack

Good afternoon,

We have partnered with Blessings in a Backpack for several years. It is a wonderful program that has provided hundreds of meals to our families who need that supplemental support for meals. We will once again be partnering with Blessings for the 22-23 year. Attached is the Opt-In Form if you would like to participate. Families can turn the forms in to their teacher or into the office.

Blessings in a Backpack – Dearborn is a longstanding non-profit program created to feed elementary school children in Dearborn, Michigan who may not have stable access to food on weekends. In Dearborn Public Schools, over 15,000 children meet the financial qualifications for the Free and Reduced Price Meal Program. Blessings in a Backpack – Dearborn aims to fill the gap on weekends, when students do not have access to that meal program. On each of 38 weekends during the school year, we provide children with a bag of easy-to-prepare, shelf-staple food. The program currently feeds over 200 children at Long, Henry Ford, William Ford, McDonald, Nowlin, River Oaks and Whitmore-Bolles Elementary Schools, in coordination with each school’s administrators. We believe that helping students arrive at school on Monday well-fed positively impacts test scores, reading skills, attendance, behavior, health and happiness.

OPT-IN

thank you
