Good morning,
I hope this blog finds you and your family happy and healthy. Just a few items.
- I know families have a lot of questions about schoolwork. At this time, none of it is mandatory but rather highly suggested. We want our students to continue to academically grow so that they are prepared for the remainder of the year or for next year. When in class schooling starts back up, the expectation of progress will continue to be there. Additionally, allowing your child to participate in the google classroom provides them with extremely needed social interaction and some sense of normalcy not to mention provides the household a break for an hour. Here is a good sample of a schedule for students during this time:
- Here’s a good video on helping your child maintain their reading stamina: https://www.thedailycafe.com/content/reading-home-parents
- As stated in a previous post, OL Smith is providing breakfast and lunch pickup. Starting Monday, the dates will switch to Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Students, parents or a family representative can stop by any of meal locations from 10 a.m. to noon each week day to pick up meals. One bag will be handed out for each child under 18 in the home. The Dearborn School student does not need to attend school at that building. Students do not need to be present, and a designated person can pick up meals for all the children in the family.
- The United Way has a COVID-19 Community Economic Relief Fund. They will provide help with bills, rent, and food. You can call 1-866-211-9966.
